This work is paired with a poem I wrote:

She was the kind of woman who could cut you with her laughter

She taught me how to garden

And I grow her gospel in my heart

You don’t deserve to grieve her the way I do

You don’t deserve to miss her the way I do

I sacrificed memories, my silent sweetness, and innocence; I trimmed my leaves for her last years to be warmed by my hands

But I supposed she forgot anyway

And you did too
